Addictions Healing, Comprehensive Treatment Clinic, Paradise Creek Recovery Center, and their applicable healthcare professionals maintain policies and procedures designed to comply with applicable requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other applicable privacy and security laws.
The Practice maintains administrative, physical, and technical safeguards designed to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information. Information collected through our websites is also covered by our Privacy Policy.
Safeguards and Procedures
These safeguards include policies and procedures addressing:
- Privacy and confidentiality of protected health information.
- Appropriate access to patient information.
- Workforce privacy and security responsibilities.
- Administrative, physical, and technical safeguards.

Minimum Necessary Standard
The Practice maintains policies designed to limit uses, disclosures, and requests for protected health information to the minimum information reasonably necessary for the intended purpose when the HIPAA minimum necessary standard applies.
Mental Health Information
The Practice recognizes that mental-health information is protected health information under HIPAA and maintains appropriate safeguards for such information.
Psychotherapy notes receive additional protections under HIPAA when they meet the regulatory definition of psychotherapy notes.
Substance-Use-Disorder Records
The Practice recognizes that certain substance-use-disorder treatment records are subject to additional federal confidentiality requirements under 42 CFR Part 2.
The Practice maintains policies and procedures designed to address applicable Part 2 requirements in addition to HIPAA requirements.
Information about substance-use-disorder records subject to Part 2 is included in the Practice’s Notice of Privacy Practices.
Patient Rights
Patients have rights concerning their protected health information, including rights to access and request correction of their information and to request certain confidential communications or restrictions, subject to applicable law.
The Practice will not retaliate against an individual for filing a privacy complaint.
Notice of Privacy Practices
The Practice maintains a separate Notice of Privacy Practices describing:
- How protected health information may be used and disclosed.
- Patient privacy rights.
- The Practice’s legal duties regarding protected health information.
- How patients may exercise their privacy rights.
- How patients may file a privacy complaint.
- Applicable protections concerning substance-use-disorder records.
